As well as academic ability, the BDS course and associated subjects, require a substantial commitment from the student to consistently study over 5 years. We recognise that this will also require a substantial commitment in financial terms from parents and sponsors who will need to act as your guarantors. Financial references and a declaration of the ability to pay the fees will be required. You should therefore consider these matters carefully before applying.

We will accept students who are sponsored by their home governments.

The fee structure is currently in development and will be finalised in early 2011. In the meantime, the following is provided as a guide only.

Year 4 Semesters 7 & 8 Commencing September 2014 Accommodation & meals provided. Clinical Year: Teaching Carried out at LDTA's Clinical Centre in Leicester. Tuition & Accommodation £45,000  
Year 5 Semesters 9 & 10 Commencing September 2015 Accommodation & meals provided. Clinical Year: Teaching Carried out at LDTA's Clinical Centre in Leicester. Tuition & Accommodation £45,000 (LDS Fees payable to the RCS). A credit of £10,000 will be given to graduates to set up in their own practice. In addition, a credit of £5,000 will be provided to dental charities that take graduates for work experience. At the end of Year 5, successful students will be awarded the Bachelor of Dental Surgery Degree (BDS) from the University of Leicester. In addition, by passing an optional additional examination set by the Royal College of Surgeons, students could achieve the Licence in Dental Surgery (LDS).

We will be offering an integrated 5-year teaching course, leading to a BDS degree awarded by our partner university. You will also have the opportunity to gain a Diploma in Business Studies, and an intermediate degree after 3 years. Once the BDS is awarded, graduates would be able to register with the General Dental Council (GDC).
